Certificate in Effective Business Communication Management
(2 months)
There is a tendency to believe that businesses need more internal communication, as if that would be beneficial in itself. This may not be the case, because people can feel swamped by too much communication – especially if it is passive, such as memos to all staff members. Hertzberg and others have emphasized the importance of direct communication in the psychology of motivation. Communication channels are routes through which communication occurs. Examples include team briefing sessions, work councils, plus the chain of command within an organization. Communication is the interaction between people, focusing primarily on the transfer of information. A communicator chooses an appropriate transmission mechanism in order to communicate with the intended receiver of the message. Communication can only be said to have succeeded once a response (feedback) has been achieved.
