Computer lab is available from 08h00 to 19h30 every week day, except for Fridays, when the lab will be open from 08h00 to 16h30.
The following courses are offered in the popular range of Office Computing
Course 1: Basic Computer Concepts - Getting Started.
Get to know the computer and its different parts. Learn what computers are used for and how they can help you to do the things you need, faster and better. You will also learn what software programs do and how they enable computer users to do great things. This course assumes that the student has very little or no experience with Windows. It also assumes that the student has little or no experience with a mouse.
Course 2: Windows XP Introduction.
We prepare the student for the use of a personal computer and we also cover topics like operating systems, Hardware & Software, Files & Folders, the Help feature and the Network Neighbourhood. This course also covers the My Computer feature very extensively and we also associate the student with all the icons on the Desktop. After completing this course the student will be comfortable with managing a computer system.
Course 3: XP Intermediate.
This course is more extensive and covers the remaining features of appearance, programs folders, interface, control panel aspects and hardware and software items. After completing this course the student will be comfortable with managing a computer system.
Course 4: MS Word Beginners.
In Word beginners we introduce the student to word processing. Word beginners cover most of the fundamental word functions that are covered in daily office tasks and will teach students how to create professional letters, documents and reports, this will enhance you documentation skills and give you the edge of creating presentable documents faster and more professionally.
Course 5: MS Word Advanced.
This course is more extensive and entails all the advanced features of the Word Program. The student will learn advanced features available in Page Setup. Page Borders, Foot- and Endnotes, Watermarks, Styles and The Mail Merge topics will also be covered extensively. The student is introduced to the Linking and Embedding Options function. Items like Charts, Macro Creation, Tracking Changes and many of the other features of the Word Program are covered in detail.
Course 6: MS Excel Beginners.
Starting with the most commonly used features of Microsoft Excel and introduces him to spread sheets and covers three Main points, Creating Charts, taking information from an Access database and including it to a spreadsheet. Scenarios are also covered, which allow users to create a scenario, where different possibilities for a specific problem are to be considered, and selecting the best option.
Course 7: Ms Excel Advanced.
Excel Advanced is one of our most advanced corporate courses and we strongly advised that the student first complete our Excel Beginners and Intermediate course. Importing Data, Linking, Collaborating with Microsoft Access and Exporting from Excel are a few of the topics that are covered in Excel Advanced.
Course 8: MS Power Point Beginners.
Microsoft PowerPoint is an excellent program to create presentations and charts with minimum effort and time. This module introduces student to PowerPoint and enables them to work on it.
Course 9: Power Point Intermediate and Advance.
PowerPoint Intermediate discusses the uses of graphics, clip art and pictures in your PowerPoint presentation. The student will also work with the Slide Master, Handout Master and Notes Master. After completion of this course the learner will be able to create new professional productions using the AutoContent Wizard, Templates and Masters. The advanced covers advanced graphics, grids, and rulers and fill effects. You will learn about slide transitions and animations, as well as adding and formatting movies.
Course 10: MS Access Beginners.
This course concentrates on the basics in creating, editing and formatting a database. The meanings of database terms such as ‘field’, ‘record’, ‘query’ and so on, are discussed. You are taken through the planning process in setting up a database, and then how to set it up in Access. How to create and format database fields, how to enter data and create records and the important aspects of importing data are also covered.
Course 11: MS Access Intermediate.
This course builds on the introductory level and concentrates on creating linked tables and how to work with them. The concepts of linking tables, relationships, and creating queries to combine and extract data are covered in the hands-on exercises. Creating and editing forms and reports is revisited but this time in terms of the linked tables and data relationships. Forms and sub forms are covered to show you how to extend the functionality of your database. Extending from this is the addition of Windows forms on the database to create drop downs, check boxes, and so on, for easy selection and manipulation of data.
Course 12: MS Access Advanced.
This course covers: Building & Modifying Forms; Adding and Selecting Controls; Building & Modifying Reports, Understanding and working with report bands; Database Start-up Options Setting the Application designing other Start-up Information; Importing, Exporting to another Database, Exporting to an Excel Spreadsheet; Exporting to ASCII; Exporting to HTML; Importing from another Access Database; Importing Spreadsheet Data; Importing ASCII Data; Importing from HTML; Linking to Another Access Database; Linking to Other types of Databases; The Linked Table Manager
Course 13: Internet and E-mail for End Users.
Internet for End Users covers the history of the internet, what the internet is, as well as how to send emails and brows the word wide web. This course shows you how to make use of any other services available on the internet. The student will be fully equipped to use the Internet after completion of this course.
Course 14: Outlook Beginners.
Outlook Beginners covers the Outlook environment, and takes you through the process of creating, sending and viewing E-Mail. In addition, you will learn to add and edit a contact, as well as using the calendar.
Course 15: Outlook Intermediate and Advance.
Outlook Intermediate covers creating groups, and sending a group E-Mail. Other more advanced features are also covered. Outlook Advanced discusses creating and editing a note, as well as deleting and restoring a deleted note. In addition, you will learn about digital Id's, and archiving files.
